Internet Marketing is Not As Simple As They Want Us to Think
The internet is a business for many people today, and they rely on the internet to be successful. With that in mind, it seems like all you have to do in order to get ahead is create a great website with information that people will find valuable. This idea has been around for quite some time and has been used by countless companies who created websites based on this principle. But as tempting as this idea might seem, points out a recent article from Forbes magazine it isn't going to work quite so easily if you aren't armed with the right tactics or strategies.
The author of the article claims that he has tried using every possible tactic that he could think of to market his website. He explains that he used search engines, paid for promotions, and tried everything in between to help him get more traffic, especially since the internet is so prevalent today. He said there is one tactic that he wanted to try out but never had a chance to try before until recently and was shocked to see what happened. The author began by advertising through paid search results as most people do with their websites. The author saw this as a great way to advertise and promote his website at no cost since it seemed like such a simple way to gain more traffic. The author decided that he would spend about $500 in his first month and hoped to get a good return on his investment.
When the author spent the $500, and when he saw the results at first glance, he was amazed. He had spent so little money, yet he was getting a huge amount of traffic from all over the world. But after only about 10 minutes, he became angry because it became clear to him that all of this traffic wasn't even worth what it was costing him. The author started realizing that people weren't just coming to his website for information: they were also there to click through on ads that were automatically popping up while they were visiting the site.
The author tried to minimize the amount of clicks he got during ad clicks, but he wasn't able to keep it under control. There were days when instead of getting one click, he got ten or more. The author said that this was the worst part of his experience with advertising: having to sit there and watch all of these ads because he had spent a lot of money on the traffic. Afterwards, when all was said and done, he only made $149.02 from all of this spending. This makes sense due to points out that by using paid search results, you are not going to make a profit unless you have your site ranked high in order to be found by people who would actually be interested in your website.
The author of the article made a few mistakes throughout his experience, and he admits that some of these mistakes ended up costing him more money than he would have liked. For example, he was using PayPal for advertising purposes, and this is something that people don't necessarily use anymore because there are so many fraudulent sites out there that you could end up paying for nothing. The author found another company called Google Adsense , which was a bit more trustworthy in his opinion. With this method, all you have to do is put up your ad on your site, and then you receive the money every time someone clicks through on the ad. Since this process is automated, you don't have to worry about fraudulent ads popping up more than once a day, and you also don't have to worry about your ads being shown multiple times to the same person. This method costs you absolutely nothing, and you will actually make money for every click of an ad that is displayed.
The author of the article admits that there are a few things that he still has in mind regarding internet marketing. He explains that he would like to place small classified ads on his site in order to gain back some of the money he spent on advertising. He also wants to use Google Adsense again so he can get some more revenue from advertisements while at the same time increasing his rank on Google's search engine. It would likely take him a little longer to be ranked at the top of Google, but his website would also experience less traffic. But the article points out that in the end, it really isn't worth your time to try out something that isn't going to help you grow your business and get more customers. Internet marketing is a great idea when you know what you're doing, but until you do, keep working at it.

On April 14th, 2015 I lost my mom to cancer over 7 years after she was first diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2004. You can read more about her life below.
My mom had been working at a major company for over 40 years, first at the same job she'd had for over 20 years and then as a Marketing Director for another company. When I was a kid, my mom always told me that if you work hard and come from good stock, you will have no problems getting ahead in life despite what the mainstream media tells us. As a kid I thought that was pretty profound. I didn't realize what she meant until many years later when things started to happen in my own life.
I worked diligently at my job throughout college (going to school full time after graduating from high school) and got promoted 6 times throughout college. I've gained around 35 pounds over the years and have spent many years trying to lose it. I am now finally successful at losing weight and training for strength and size. I know from experience that most people don't have my ability to stay disciplined in their lifestyle and focus on their goals. Most people will never reach their potential because they give up, they fall off the wagon, or they simply don't realize their full potential.
I can remember how daunting it was when I decided to become a mixed martial artist. The guys training at my gym as professional fighters were big and strong...and I was not. Every time I step into the gym I'm about 10-20 pounds heavier than some of my teammates and it makes me feel like everyone is looking at me like an outsider. In reality, all of my coaches are very supportive of me and my weight lifting ability. They know that if you work hard enough, you can still beat someone who is bigger and better than you regardless of your size or technique. They also understand the difficulties of losing weight and how hard it is to gain it back.
Initially, I went to weightlifting because I wanted to improve my overall full body strength. I eventually realized that there was much more to weightlifting than adding some mass and getting stronger. Weightlifting can greatly increase your stamina, your muscle memory, and you'll develop a better "mind muscle connection" between your brain and your body. It's something that not everyone understands but there was a time in my life when I thought about "getting big" because of my previous MMA experience. MMA gave me confidence in my ability to beat up people who were bigger or tougher than me...
Conclusion
My mom loved me and my brother so much that she worked her ass off for 40 years in the hopes that one day we could find our own passions and have our own lives. I never had to work for anyone else other than myself. I've always felt that freedom and the responsibility lying at the core of it. We all need to find our own way in this world but we don't always do what's best for us and sometimes when you're on your journey, it's hard to get the information you need to progress further. You may not even know where to look because so many people out there want your money or want you to sign up for a dumb program or service that will leave you worse off than when you started.
