You might have the best software in the world, but if nobody knows your product exists, it won't get very far. There are many things you can do to promote yourself and your software.

Here are some tips for getting your name out there and making people aware of who you are.

-Offer a free trial of your software with no obligation to buy     -Consider adding social media sharing options within the app so that users can share content easily on their profiles   -Create a YouTube video that describes what you're offering and why it's important. There are many people that learn better visually than in text alone.  -Try offering a free version of your software without all the bells and whistles. This will help to introduce users to what your product can do, but they won't be able to use all of its features.  -Offer a discount for registering before a certain deadline. -Find out what conferences are being held in your niche and attend those events. Press releases for these kinds of things are great if you get listed!
-Create an online press kit and make sure it's easily searchable online so that reporters can find it when they need it. -Start an email list. These days, it's easy to set up your own email newsletter service. You can then send out updates, special offers, and even free trials.  
Promoting your software in this way can be very effective for getting people aware of what you're doing and attracting new users.
-Stay updated with trends in your industry to keep track of what's on people's minds. -Keep yourself informed by reading news about similar topics that you may want to add to your product or service offering. -Share articles that are relevant to your business on social media sites.  -Build up your network by following bloggers, news publications, and industry leaders in your niche. -Don't forget to keep updating your email list with new products or services, special offers, and industry news.

Promoting yourself and your software doesn't have to be difficult! These tips can be a great way to get started and attract new users without having to spend a lot of money.
The most important thing is just getting started! You'll find it's much easier than you think if you're willing to do it on a small scale before making more extreme changes.

I found this article by chance, while doing Google search for "How to pick a niche" and I'm happy that I did.  A few excerpts from the article:  The huge mistake almost all newbies make is over stuffing their offers with product after product or service after service. I've come across a few interesting sites through Google that list top selling products (as for various categories).  They all have different criteria for what they include in the results list but it is worth checking them out. The first one I've listed in the table below:
Searching for products on Amazon, eBay or other sites is one of the best ways to find profitable products that you can sell online.  I've already made a post about searching for products on Google and using Google Trends , so today, I'm going to share my methods for searching on eBay and Amazon.  If you're unfamiliar with how this works, then check out this post . In order to get started, you will need to register an account with each site:
Amazon Search Tool To start off, visit Amazon's product search page .  You will need to do some basic product research to find the relevant products that you can sell online.  For best results, make sure that the products you're looking for are among the top sellers for the keywords that you've chosen. You can also use eBay's product search feature but it doesn't include a lot of references and it can be difficult to find relevant items. If there are any in-demand items that you don't see here, visit eBay's merchants selling page .
