Physical Fitness is a state of being in good physical condition, and the ability to conduct your daily activities without being overly tired. It includes strength, endurance, flexibility and mobility as well as body composition.

Achieving a healthy balance of physical fitness may help decrease risk for life-threatening diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer. Also it will help people stay fit without spending hours at the gym or playing sports all day long for example. There are many different ways that people can maintain their physical health because it requires dedication to exercise on a daily basis in order to keep fit and healthy. It can be quite difficult sometimes but it is not impossible.

There are five components of physical fitness that are important when wanting to achieve a healthy balance; Strength, body composition, flexibility, joint mobility and endurance.

Strength: This is the ability to move or lift heavy weights or resistance. This can include weight training, push-ups and pull-ups. For example exercising the biceps muscles will increase a person's strength because you need to have the strength in order to execute these types of exercises. This is very useful for many people who need this type of fitness in their daily lives for example construction workers and other heavy manual labor occupations. Also strength is very useful for people who want to be able to run long distances, swim or go on a bike ride.

Body Composition: This is how lean or fat your body is. Body composition involves the percentage of muscle versus fat in your body. It also includes measurements of muscle, bone and skin as well as overall shape. Some examples of good body composition are having a low percentage of body fat and not having any excess weight around the waist. This would include people who tend to have an athletic build or those who have restrictions on where they can carry their weight because they are attractive and healthy.

Flexibility: This is a person's ability to move their body freely and perform a full range of motion. Flexibility is very important because it allows people to perform all of the movements that they want and need to do throughout the day. For example if your flexibility was 'tight' it could cause you to have problems performing certain tasks such as running, biking or swimming. Maintaining flexibility will allow people to do whatever activities they want without the fear of injury or discomfort.

Joint Mobility: This is how far a joint can move through its complete range of motion. This is very useful for athletes because it prevents injuries and wear and tear on the body. For example if an athlete's joints are not mobile they will be unable to play their sport without putting extra stress on other parts of their body such as their knees or ankles.

Endurance: This is a person's ability to work hard or perform well over a long period of time. This includes the ability to run, walk, climb stairs and swim. Also endurance includes resistance from fatigue which allows you to maintain your physical health without getting tired from doing simple everyday tasks. Endurance can also be referred to as cardiovascular fitness because it includes the heart, lungs, blood vessels and circulation of oxygen throughout your body.

Achieving a healthy balance of physical fitness can be very beneficial to your overall health. It will help decrease your risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes and some types of cancer. When considering all five components and committing yourself to an active lifestyle you will become more fit while feeling better about yourself. Physical fitness doesn't require any expensive equipment or memberships to a fitness center. It is all about making lifestyle changes that you enjoy and are able to maintain on a daily basis. If you feel that regular exercise isn't enough for you there are many other ways that you can achieve lifelong fitness such as nutrition, sleep, relaxation therapies and stress management techniques for example.

Conclusion: Physical Fitness is a state of being in good physical condition, and the ability to conduct your daily activities without being overly tired.

Recently I came across an article written by a personal trainer named Lauren who was discussing the importance of exercise and fitness for health. The article was posted on Allison's, the blog of author Allison Okuno, and I felt so inspired after reading it that I wanted to share it with you. I hope you find it uplifting and inspiring as much as I did! - Lauren  A Personal Trainer's Take on Exercise & Fitness http://www.allisonsblog.com/2013/07/a-personal-trainers-take-on-exercise-fitness.html

If you could sum up your message in three words, what would they be?

"There is no such thing as being too fit or healthy for life. "

And if you could sum up your message in one sentence, what would it be?   "You are the only one that can determine and control your health."  Come on people....when did we make this about ourselves and our bodies? When did we make this a competition of some sort?  Wake up...you are not failing unless you let yourself. The thought of a workout should not be daunting.  You should feel good about being healthy and doing something positive for you.
Happiness is within your reach...just decide you want to get there. Thanks for reading and remember that I am YOUR personal trainer....day, night, weekend or any time of day or night.  Feel free to drop me a line at Lauren@Life-Of-An-Naturalist.com

Nutrition is one of those things that we may not think about too often until something happens to us or we start losing some of our "bodily" beauties. I was recently diagnosed with a disease that had me suffering from a lot of symptoms as well.  I started getting very sick and exhausted with little to no energy.  The doctors prescribed me medication and a rotating 7 day diet. Since I have been on the diet I have noticed my energy is coming back, and so are many of my symptoms!  The continuous  diet has given me better health, now more than ever!     So for all of you out there who have questions about what to eat in order to be healthier, or for those who are trying to lose weight; there is hope for your health!   Here are some resources that I found that may help: http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/7-day-diet http://www.livestrong.com/article/216367-7-day-detox-diet/ http://www.livestrong.com/article/186509-6--day-quiz http://blogs.nbcnews.
